FIX GEORGIA PETS HAS AGAIN PARTNERED WITH THE APAW EXPO.
In its 26th year, the Animal Protection And Wellness (APAW) Expo unites animal welfare professionals and animal welfare advocates to learn cutting-edge best practices for working together to protecting animals and humans in Georgia.
CALLING ALL FGP PARTNERS, SHELTERS, RESCUES, FOSTERS, VETERINARIANS, ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS AND ANIMAL ADVOCATES:
Day One is filled with numerous courses every FGP Partner, Shelter, Rescue, Fosters, Animal Control Officers and more should attend.
Heavy hitters like Inga Fricke, Executive Director, McKamey Animal Center has two courses on Animal Sheltering, and there are three courses on Emergency Management/Disaster Preparedness to learn what needs to be done and how to work together during a disaster to keep animals safe and secure. Plus a legislative update on all the new animal laws and ordinances passed this year.





Day Two is sponsored by Fix Georgia Pets and Georgia Pet Foundation. It is a full day packed with valuable information and courses with you in mind. PLUS, Fix Georgia Pets will be giving out two $2,500 grants – one to one of our current partners and one for a new prospective partner.
The day starts with experts explaining how a large TNVR event happens when working together. Next is 2.5 hours of roundtable discussions with the following topics:
- Rescue Shelter Relationships: Pull processes and relationship building
- Navigating the Vet Shortage
- How to Provide Low Cost Spay/Neuter Options in Rural Areas
- Fundraising:Navigate Fundraising During Challenging Economic Times
After lunch you’ll learn how to market animals during these times of major overcrowding in shelters and rescues.
We finish the day with an expert from UGA talking about Compassion Fatigue and Grief and Loss. So many people in the animal welfare arena deal with these topics every day where suicide rates are high. Learn how to cope and recover when feeling overwhelmed.
